The Andamans give you Southeast Asian water without leaving the country. Radhanagar Beach on Havelock is regularly ranked among Asia's best, and the coral around Neil Island and North Bay is close enough to the surface that snorkelling is enough.

Havelock — officially Swaraj Dweep — is the main base, reached by a two-hour ferry from Port Blair. Neil Island is smaller and slower. Port Blair itself is worth an evening for the Cellular Jail light-and-sound show, which lands harder than you expect.

This is the best place in India to try scuba for the first time; PADI centres on Havelock run beginner dives to twelve metres with no certification. Ferries are the one thing to plan around — they book out weeks ahead in season, and we reserve them with your package rather than leaving it to chance.
