Four countries in ten days by high-speed rail, with Jungfraujoch, a Seine cruise, a gondola ride and skip-the-line Vatican entry.

The grand tour, and the trip we put the most planning into. Ten days across France, Switzerland, Italy and the Vatican, connected by high-speed rail rather than budget flights — faster door to door, and considerably more pleasant.

Timed-entry tickets for the Eiffel Tower, the Vatican Museums and Jungfraujoch are booked before you travel, which in peak season is the difference between walking in and not getting in at all.

Indian and Jain meals are arranged throughout, and an Indian dinner is included on six of the nine nights. Our visa team handles the full Schengen application. Summer departures typically sell out by March.

Arrive in Paris

Land at Charles de Gaulle and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is deliberately light to shake off the flight — an evening walk along the Seine and dinner at an Indian restaurant near the hotel.

Paris city tour, the Eiffel Tower and a Seine cruise

A guided city tour — the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde and Notre-Dame from the outside. Timed entry to the Eiffel Tower second level in the afternoon, then a one-hour Seine river cruise at dusk.

Disneyland Paris or the Louvre

A full day at Disneyland Paris, or the Louvre and Versailles for anyone travelling without children — you choose at the time of booking and we ticket accordingly.

High-speed rail to Switzerland, Lucerne

Check out and take the TGV to Switzerland. Afternoon in Lucerne — the Chapel Bridge, the Lion Monument and the lakefront — then check in to your hotel in the Interlaken area.

Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe

The cogwheel railway up to Jungfraujoch at 3,454 metres — the Sphinx observatory, the Ice Palace and the Aletsch glacier. Dress warmly; it is below freezing year-round. Afternoon back in the valley at Interlaken.

Mount Titlis and the Rotair

Up Mount Titlis by the rotating Rotair cable car, with the cliff walk suspension bridge, the glacier cave and snow activities at the top. Evening free in Engelberg or Interlaken.

Rail to Venice, gondola and St Mark's

A scenic rail journey south into Italy. Afternoon in Venice — St Mark's Square, the Basilica exterior, the Bridge of Sighs and a shared gondola ride through the smaller canals. A Murano glass-blowing demonstration on the way.

Venice to Rome, evening at the Trevi Fountain

Morning rail to Rome. Check in, then an evening walking tour of the centre — the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon, all better after dark and without the daytime crowds.

Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and the Colosseum

Skip-the-line entry to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel in the morning, then St Peter's Basilica. Afternoon at the Colosseum and the Roman Forum with a guide.

Great trip, one small note

The sightseeing and the guides were excellent and the pace suited us. The hotel on the first two nights was a little further out than I expected — worth asking about location when you book. Everything else was flawless.
